This week the Tavis Smiley Show on National Public Radio (NPR) ran a three part series surveying the African American community's regard for and responses to homosexuality and gay marriage. The discussion comes at a crucial time, as the Massachusetts legislature debates the constitutionality of same-sex marriages and the viability of civil unions. On Wednesday's show, Tavis invited two representatives from "the younger generation" to weigh in on this issue and to give their take on how the tides are changing in Black America's regard for homosexuality.
Larry D. Lyons II is very close friend of mine and he in his words "never shys from the opportunity to contribute to the national dialogue on race, sexuality and civil rights." Take a listen to what he had to say at NRP.org.
