Jennifer Pauly, one of the organizers of the NYT Librarian Awards, recently sent the 2005 honorees about 300 photographs of the ceremony and the reception in November. Below are a few of my favorites.

Ben Jones (pictured above) wrote the letter which got me the award. Ben is an exceptional visual artist who has always supported my work at the Schomburg and for participating in art in harlem. If you knew him, you'd love him like I do.

Me accepting the plaque and a check, as Ms Pauly looks on.
All 27 honorees prior to being whisked off to a reception held in our honor. Wine and tiny tasty tidbits tailored for the tummy.
Niki, Artis and Yellowman at the reception drinking and looking important. Fa-fa-fa-fa-fa.
Next up: several posts currently in the works to debut before the end of the year:
I Support the Strike
CirKus: The World's Best Band
2005: The Wrap-Up.
Congratulations Steve! It's good to know OUR archivist has been so honored. I know you deserve it all... oh yeah and it's so cool that u are always able to pull off the Bohemian look so well (not everyone can do that without looking fake, u know). Keep up the good work.
